Recensione : Songs For The Deaf Sciolti i Kyuss, Josh Homme forma i Queens of the Stone Age. Dopo un primo album di rodaggio e l'ottimo "R", arriva il capolavoro "Songs for the deaf". Oltre al solito Nick Oliveri, stavolta Homme chiama con se Mark Lanegan e Dave Grohl e sforna un disco di arcigno "Hard rock" con forti venature psichedeliche. I brani sono uno piu' bello dell'altro, con vertici come "A song for the dead", "A song for the deaf" e "God is in the radio". Uno dei dischi migliori del nuovo millennio!

Recensione : Lateralus Non e' facile classificare la musica di "Lateralus", imponente lavoro della durata di quasi ottanta minuti e miglior disco dei Tool. Certamente il gruppo pesca nella tradizione dei piu' importanti gruppi "progressive" del passato, flirtando pero' decisamente con il "metal" e addirittura con il "trash" e l' "industrial", regalandoci tappeti sonori vibranti e apocalittici, a volte resi tribali dall'innesto delle percussioni, a volte resi unici da un velo di elettronica. Tecnicamente ineccepibile, "Lateralus" e' un monolite che concentra e amplifica in se' il meglio dei suoni ascoltati fino ad allora, un moderno capolavoro semplicemente da ascoltare perche' troppo difficile da spiegare con le parole.

Recensione : Paranoid Dopo un primo album dall'accento "bluesy", i Black Sabbath definirono il loro sound con il capolavoro "Paranoid". I quattro provenivano dai sobborghi di Birmingham, e la loro musica era lo specchio della dura realta' di quei posti: il suono e' potente e sepolcrale, caratterizzato dalla barbarica sezione ritmica di Geezer Butler e Bill Ward, dai riff distorti di Tony Iommi e dal "raglio" di Ozzy Osbourne; i testi traggono si ispirazione dalla fantascenza ma anche dalla realta', con temi come la guerra, l'alienazione e l'incubo della droga. "Paranoid" si puo' considerare il "progenitore" di tutti gli album metal e l'influenza che ha avuto su tutto quello che e' venuto dopo di lui e' incalcolabile.

Recensione : Blackbird probabilmente miglior album rock degli anni 2000.
comprato nel 2007 ma spesso e volentieri viaggia ancora nel mio stereo. Voce senza eguali nel panorama mondiale ed il miglior Tremonti di sempre alle sei corde.
Album completo che contiene 2 gemme assolute come "Blackbird" e la ballata "Watch over you".
Da avere assolutamente per gli amanti del genere.

Recensione : Blackbird Un album assolutamente spettacolare grazie all'aggiunta (rispetto al primo album del gruppo) della seconda chitarra (di Myles Kennedy, voce). Un CD esplosivo che "ti da la carica" ogni volta che lo ascolti, che tu ne abbia bisogno o meno, e con dei testi che ti fanno sentire in grado di conquistare l'intero universo (parlano soprattutto della rinascita, della voglia di uscire dal letargo e fare qualcosa di grandioso). Indimenticabile!
( Consigliato a quelli con poca autostima ;D )

Recensione : Too Old To Rock ''N'' Roll : Too Young To Die ! Mai copertina fu più impressa nella mia mente di adolescente.

Non sapevo neanche chi fossero i Jethro Tull e nemmeno lo stilizzato Ian Anderson/Ray Lomas intento, nel bel mezzo della copertina gialla dell'LP, nel famosissimo ed esplicito gesto dell'ombrello.

Il CD offerto da Amazon è la rimasterizzazione EMI (diventata nel 1991 proprietaria dell'originaria etichetta discografica Chrysalis) risalente al 2002 sulla quale sono presenti, oltre ai 10 brani originari, due bonus track (A small cigar e Strip Cartoon)

Siamo nell'ultima fase delle opere rock progressive (1976) della band capeggiata dal flautista Ian Anderson che aveva già raggiunto l'apice del successo qualche anno prima (1972) con l'album Thick as a Brick.

Passando all'analisi del CD, si apprezza un gradevole suono, leggermente metallico, e sostanzialmente esente da disturbi di sottofondo.

Il libretto è composto da 16 facciate che dovrebbero riprodurre l'originale supporto. Sia pur minuscolo, si apprezza il fumetto con la storia del rocker Ray Lomas che, in qualche modo, funge da soggetto con cui seguire le varie tracce del CD.

Per tutti gli amanti del progressive e per chi vuol scoprire questa mitica rock-band ad un prezzo molto cheap!

Recensione : Grace For Drowning - Digibook Limited Edition It's very rare to find an album, let alone musician whose music is a timeless piece of art and creativity. With the second solo release from Steven Wilson, I am nothing less than impressed with his ability to create and layer sounds that I would never expect, or have ever heard before on an album. He has a unique skill to be able to put emotions in to each chord, and each note that comprises a song and album as a whole. This album can be listened to countless times over and what makes it most special and separates it from most music today is that it can be listened to as a whole without having to skip a song, or just play your favorites. Greatness does not even begin to describe how well put together and what pure genius this album is. Buy it. Enjoy it. Share it with everyone you know!!!

Recensione : Grace For Drowning - Digibook Limited Edition When I first got news that Steven was going to record a second album I was so excited about it I couldn't wait. Every vid on his sight I watched. And I was on the sight every other day. When the song track one was released I loved the vid with Steven playing the guitar then the sound distorts a little the vision in the background. Simply amazing. Then index which I loved the song and is still my fav from the album. Then reminder of the black dog which is a long song which the intro seems a little bit long but when you get into it the song is amazing. Then I got the album and I could not wait to play it all. My only disappointment was that the order from amazon has the cardboard slipcase over a plastic case which I prefer the small books for the look and feel of them. The artwork is similar to insurgentes which I like allot with the photos of Steven with the weird effects on then the occasion shot of nature. There are some standout tracks on this album like (deform to form a star, postcard, index and like dust I have cleared from my eye) all are amazing and I love the songs with vocals most from Stevens new album or albums as this is 2 albums in one.
Music is a hard business and I'm sure it was good hard work getting 80 mins of music that is to a degree original yet still distinctive to Wilson. the only track than I myself can't get into that much is raider II as it is long but it still has allot of change thorough but it's just not in my personal taste the rest of this album is pure gold and every listen is more enjoyable than the last.
I think this album is defiantly on my top 5 from Wilson out of all his projects and his many years of righting and I think it is better than insurgentes which was a top notch album.
Stevens work just keeps getting better

Quando ho avuto notizia che Steven stava per registrare un secondo album Ero così entusiasta che non ho potuto aspettare. Ogni vid sulla sua vista ho guardato. Ed io ero sulla vista a giorni alterni. Quando l'una traccia canzone è stata rilasciata Ho amato il vid con Steven suonare la chitarra poi il suono distorce un po 'la visione in background. Semplicemente incredibile. Poi indice che ho amato la canzone ed è ancora my fav dall'album. Poi ricordo del cane nero, che è una canzone lunga che l'intro sembra un po 'lungo, ma quando si arriva in esso la canzone è incredibile. Poi ho avuto l'album e non vedevo l'ora di giocare il tutto. La mia unica delusione era che l'ordine da Amazon è il cofanetto di cartone su una custodia in plastica che preferisco i piccoli libri per il look and feel di loro. L'opera è simile a Insurgentes cui mi piace assegnare con le foto di Steven con gli effetti strani sui poi il colpo occasione della natura. Ci sono alcuni brani standout su questo album come (si deformano per formare una, stella cartolina, indice e come la polvere che ho cancellato dal mio occhio) tutti sono incredibili e io amo le canzoni con la voce più da Stevens nuovo album o gli album come questo è di 2 album in uno.
La musica è un lavoro duro e sono sicuro che è stato bello lavorare sodo ottenere 80 minuti di musica che è in misura originale ma ancora distintivo di Wilson. l'unica traccia di quanto io stesso non può entrare che è molto Raider II è lunga ma ha ancora assegnare approfondita del cambiamento ma non è solo nel mio gusto personale il resto di questo album è oro puro e ogni ascolto è più divertente di quello precedente.
Credo che questo album è provocatoriamente sulla mia top 5 da Wilson fuori tutti i suoi progetti ei suoi molti anni di raddrizzamento e penso che è meglio di Insurgentes che era un album di altissimo livello.
Lavoro Stevens solo continua a migliorare

Recensione : Grace For Drowning - Digibook Limited Edition Grace For Drowning is the second solo album by Steven Wilson Insurgentes being the first. This time Steven was inspired by the progressive music of the seventies. Also this time Steven chose to work with a lot of jazz musicians which definitely is reflected in the music. In my opinion Insurgentes was and still is an amazing album but Grace For Drowning manages to surpass it with its complex and truly ambitious content. If you like albums that can take you away from reality and put you in magnificent world of weird and sometimes even frightful imagery than Grace For Drowning is for you. Steven Wilson is amazingly talented musician and Grace For Drowning is one of his best works so far! Recommended!!!

Recensione : Doremi Fasol Latido Gli hawkwind, insieme forse solo ai grateful dead, sono un'esperienza unica, e questo disco ha già tutto: la chitarra drone del capitano brock, gli effimeri fiati di nik turner, il basso possente di lemmy e l'elettronica cosmica di del dettmar e dik mik.
E poi Bob Calvert (imperdibile il singolo bonus Urban Guerilla) e Simon King, puro ritmo tribale al suo esordio nel gruppo.
L'album originale parte con la (ormai) classica Brainstorm e si chiude con una paranoide the watcher (da confrontare obbligatoriamente con le successive versioni di Lemmy con i suoi Motorhead): nel mezzo pezzi elettroacustici (space is deep, down through the night), deliri minimali (one change) ed epiche cavalcate cosmiche (lord of light, time we left) - neppure un pezzo debole.
I bonus anche meritano, con veri gioellini come una giovane ejection e una stupenda brainbox pollution, una versione editata di lord of light e l'ottimo 45 Urban Guerilla.
Da abbinare a Space Ritual e il recente Live at bbc 1972.

Recensione : Enter Sandman (Audio CD) Il disco non si intitola "Enter Sandman" ma semplicemente "Metallica". Prodotto da Bob Rock, l'album vendette milioni di copie ma fu ripudiato dai vecchi fans del gruppo che li accusarono di essersi commercializzati. Premesso che ognuno e' libero di pensarla come gli pare, secondo me "Black Album" e' un ottimo disco. Nessuno puo' rimanere indifferente davanti a pezzi devastanti come "Sad but true" e "Wherever i may roam" o a stupende ballate come "The unforgiven" e "Nothing else matters".
